Get to Know Dr. Nicole Woods, ND
My approach to naturopathic medicine is rooted in a simple belief: you deserve to feel heard, understood, and confident in your healthcare decisions.
I hold a degree in Life Sciences from McMaster University and a Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. My educational background, combined with my commitment to lifelong learning, informs my approach to patient-centred, integrative naturopathic care.
As a naturopathic doctor, I believe that healthcare works best when we work together. I welcome collaboration with your family doctor, specialists, and other members of your healthcare team to help support a coordinated approach to your health. I recognize that every patient has a unique history, individual needs, and personal goals, and I strive to make each appointment a space where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns without judgment.
Education is at the heart of my practice. I dedicate time to helping my patients understand their health, explore their options, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care. My goal is for every patient who leaves my office to feel heard, validated, and confident in the plan we have put in place.
I also believe that effective naturopathic care doesn't have to mean an overwhelming list of supplements or complicated treatment plans. I take a more minimalist approach to supplementation, prioritizing the foundations of health, including sleep, stress management, nutrition, physical activity, and sustainable lifestyle habits. I aim to develop practical, individualized recommendations that fit into your everyday life and support your long-term well-being.
I don't pretend to have every answer, and I believe there is value in being honest about that. What I can promise is a willingness to listen, ask questions, continue learning, and help you find the information and resources you need.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel more informed, more confident, and more connected to your health. I want you to leave our appointments feeling that you have a partner in your healthcare journey—someone who respects your experience, values your perspective, and is invested in helping you move forward.

Your Questions, Answered.

The cost of bloodwork depends on the tests ordered and the lab they are ordered through. Most commonly, bloodwork for a comprehensive assessment is between $100-$250. An exact bloodwork quote will be provided before a requisition is made, to ensure you are informed of all costs.
If you have recent bloodwork results (within the last 6 months) or an outstanding requisition, I encourage you to bring them to our appointment so they can help educate our decision making around next steps.

Many private insurance companies provide coverage for naturopathic doctors in Ontario. This coverage will vary based on your policy and any outlined maximums or limitations to use. Please check with your insurance provider directly for details.
Both clinics provide direct billing to insurance companies , but do require your leave a credit card on file in the event that there are outstanding balances after submission. You always have the option to pay up front and submit on your own, if you choose.

The time at which you can expect results depends on the treatment intervention and patient compliance. In general, naturopathic treatment options (ex. nutrition, exercise, supplementation, etc.) take slower effect than say, a pharmaceutical intervention.
I always do my best to provide an educated estimate on when to expect to see change. -
There are additional educational/training opportunities for ND’s in Ontario, which can broaden their scope of practice. I am happy to share that I have completed both.
CONO’s Standard of Practice for Prescribing - allows for prescribing rights for a specific list of drugs including high dose vitamin D, hormone replacement therapy, etc.
CONO’s Standard of Practice for IV - allows for compounding and administration of IV therapy.
Here you can reference the CONO practice tables, which include the drugs I can prescribe and substances I can administer.

Both roles have their strengths, but these are the areas that I see the greatest differences:
Appointment duration: The average medical appointment in Ontario is 7-15min, the average naturopathic appointment is 30-45min.
Assessment + Treatment Flexibility: OHIP tightly regulates the assessments and algorithms that medical doctors follow. On the other hand, there is slightly more flexibility for naturopathic doctors to make individualized adjustments to screening and assessment frequency based on the patient’s unique case.
Scope of practice: Medical doctors often utilize pharmaceuticals as a primary treatment option, while sometimes including lifestyle recommendations. Naturopathic doctors focus more heavily on lifestyle and nutrition and use supplements to help support outcomes. Naturopathic doctors do not have the same access to assessments, prescriptions or referrals as medical doctors.
OHIP Coverage: Most medical doctors are provincially funded through OHIP, where naturopathic doctors are paid out of pocket.
